The main character of modern life is high-pace. People tend to devote to the field that can get return in a shorttime which is exactly what we called high-efficient life. Not only does thisattitude exists in daily life but also be the main pursuit of most work areas.Basic science, by contrast, failed to achieve efficiency due to its long researchperiod. Scientists who study in basic science such as mathematical, physicalmethods always spend years to get a small progress. Therefore, an increasing number of people resort to applied science which can be applied directly to their work. Also, getting certain rates of return in a short time means the consequent profits which can hardly be achieved by basic science.
However, I should point out that it is the development of basic science that impulse the progress of applied science and other field. Therefore, certain steps should be taken to reverse this trend. On a national level, certain proportion of fund should be devoted to basicscience research. Besides, relative institutions and companies should financially support scientists who commit themselves to basic science. In this way,scientist and researchers would get an easier access to the better resources while at the same time get an identity about the research they are conducting.
