托福作文批改前:

Question: Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.

Dinosaur fossils have been found on Alaska\'s North Slope, where winter was quite cold. How they survived the extreme winter becomes a heated topic. The reading part suggests migration hypothesis, while the listening part thinks differently.

First, the reading part points out that edmontosaurs fed on plants.Since winter was cold and dark on North Slope, they had to migrate to warmer places. The listening part, however, says that summer in the North Slope was quite long and both temperature and sunshine time reached the peak, giving great chances for plants to grow, which can be left for edmontosaurs to eat in winter.

Second, the reading part says that it is proved edmontosaurs lived in herds, which is the same to many migratory animals today. But the listening part shows that living in herds does not necessarily mean migration.Even for animals not migrating, living in herds provides extra protection from predators.

Third,it is showed in the reading part that edmonosaurs were physically capable of migrating long distances by analyzing their speed. But as the listening part points out,the teenage ones which were not capable of long distance travel would be left behind. As a result, the herds will stay where they were and not migrate.

Question:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

To improve the quality of education, universities should spend more money on salaries for university professors.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

As university education has been offered to more high school graduates due to education development, more people begin to focus on the quality of it.How to improve the quality of education appers to be crucial, with some suggesting that more money shall be spent on salaris for university professors.Personally,I am convined that this is not proper.

Fisrt of all, I think we should take one question into consideration. What is the essense of lower education quality in some universities? Is it because of low salaries? The answer is absolutely no.Professors, students and facilities are 3 main parts of a university. But we are sad to say, there are professors who take privilege of the titles, taking advantages of the university resources while taking no relative responsbility. And we can see students who kill time in university, taking it for granted that university means relax.What\'s more, the lack of facilities, especially high technology machines and advanced labs limit the effects of education.It\'s reasonableto say that these 3 parts mentioned above are essential to the problem.

Talking about the profossors, how to encourage them to work harder and bring students better classes cannot only rely on high salaries.A proper formula shall be made to help the process work well. The harder you work, the more reward you get.I suppose for a scientist, what he wants the most when a breakthrough is made will not be money, but respect encouraging him to do futher study, thus universities shall provide the professors enough resources to invent and research. Also,by applying to patents and getting monetary rewards from our country, they actually earn more through their own work than through salaries.

As for the students, they need to develop awarness for education.University is life-treasure experience in their life, bringing them valuable knowledge and precious friends. They shall be educated about the importance of university life, just as Bill Gates said,\"Education is the best gift for your children.\"Raising salaries certainly has no help on that.

The last but not the least important, the lack of certain facilities can limit the quality of education.I am lucky to be in university included in 985 high education project, which means the school is of high quality and have abundant resources others may not have.I get advantages when doing experiments using advanced labs, which helps me to understand what I learn quite fast and triggers my interest. But not everyone can be as lucky as I am.Universities ought to contribute more to developing their facilities to help students learn better, instead of focusing on high salaries of professors.

From what I mentioned above,we can safely draw a conclusion that we shall pay more attention on professors, students and facilities instead of high salaries.
