学生原文:

As time passes, we of university students or high school students will meet an increasing number of people around us, some of which might become friends with us or some of which will just go by. So, whether we should focus more on making new friends or reinforce previous relationship remains a crucial problem for us to tackle with. As far as I am concerned, my favor goes to the latter one for the reasons below.

To begin with, one will have closer relationships with old friends as a result of their knowing each other for a longer time. Take me for example, I have a chum during my high school because we had done many things together, such as playing soccer, fighting each other in online games, studying math and physics both of us were fond of and so on. And after we entered different universities, we retained this relationship just as solid as before since the friends we made in universities did not know what we wanted or loved, although college friends shared other entertainment activities and academic discussion with us. So, as old friends have more ideas of someone, I think, it is beyond doubt that old friends are of more significance.

Moreover, it will cost much for someone if he or she wants to meet new friends, especially in university. Granted during university must the students spend more with new buddies than during high school with their older friends. This point could be demonstrated by a fact that there are numerous activities in Chinese universities than high school, which will result in more payment. In contrast to new friends, erstwhile friends of high schools demand less. For instance, my chum and I just want to reunite at summer or winter holidays when we go back home, which actually takes little time and money from us and our friendship suffers no loss. Additionally, when we seek new friends with the high cost, could we be sure to get a good relationship as much as the old ones? Apparently it is not. So, it will be an act of high risks and loss to pursue unsure benefit that we rely more on making new friends.

Last but not least, perhaps we should make some new friends, for some factual causes. For one thing, newly-found friends from college do enlarge one's outlook. If one student majoring in economics meets another majoring in engineering, I believe, they will gain much more mutually than from older friends. On another matter, making new friends will enhance one's skills of communication considered an inevitable aptitude to live in modern society, whatever fields one works. However, that is not to say new friends are of more importance than previous ones. For those factors above, one should give priority to strengthen old relationships.

In the final analysis, it is the old friends that we concentrate more on than unfamiliar ones for not only the beneficial company the old chums bring but also the loss making additional ones might be supposed to lead to.
