To begin with, motorized vehicles have bigger impact than flying vehicles in terms of both quantity and time. The number of automobile far exceeds that of the airplane by hundreds of millions. And the appearance of automobile is nearly a century earlier than airplane. Once the automobile became a practical and reliable source of transportation in the past century, it changed almost everything world-wide. It has brought obvious economic effects, making it possible to truck goods rather than using horses and carts. That has not only contributed much to the development of transportation, but also accelerated the speed of industrialization.
Besides, comparing with airplane, automobile usually brings people a degree of mobility and freedom and it affects more people's lives more directly. There has not been any perfect substitute for automobile. Thus, without automobile, it is unpleasant for us to imagine using horses and carts again especially in the hot summer when the odor of horse is hard to tolerate. On the other hand, because of the high price of airplane ticket, not everyone can afford to travel by air. Most of people would choose high-speed rail which not only has a competitive price but also has a speed almost as fast as airplane.
In conclusion, taking account of the arguments above, I believe automobile definitely has a greater impact. A world without airplane is a world without luxury and a world without automobile is a world lacks of necessity.
