In my point of view, A Song of Ice and Fire written by George RR Martin is quite impressive to me. It is a fantasy reflecting the different kinds of powers behind the thrones during a series of wars. The conflicts between Westeros and Essos in this fantasy are strongly similar to that of the two rival branches in the throne of England: House of Plantagenet and House of York in the 15th century as well as some issues between mainland China and Taiwan contemporarily.
