It was the golden season. I could see the yellow leaves falling with the cool wind. For others, itis a harvest season, while for me, it is an annoying season. I was preparing for thePostgraduate Entrance Examination. But so many unhappy things made me so tired, so Idecided to have a walk along the Yanjiang Road in my university.

那是一个金色的季节。我看到金色的叶子随着凉爽的秋风飘落。对其他人来说，这是收获的季节。然而对于我，这却是一个烦恼的季节。那时我正在准备研究生入学考试。但那么多不愉快的事情让我感到非常疲惫，所以我决定顺着学校的沿江路散散心。

“Autumn is a lonely season and life is uninteresting. The days in this season always get medown”, I thought when the sound of a guitar flowed into my ears, like a stream flowing fromthe mountains. I was so surprised that I ran to see what it was. A young girl, sitting on thelawn, was lost in playing her guitar. She was a beautiful girl, especially when the wind blew herlong hair. I had never seen her before. The music was so attractive that I listened quietly.

秋天是一个寂寞的季节，生活索然无趣。秋天我总是感到沮丧，我正边走边想，这时弹吉他的声音就像山中小溪的流水灌入我的耳朵，我感到非常惊奇于是跑去看个究竟。一个非常年轻的女孩坐在草地上，忘我地弹着吉他。她真漂亮，尤其是当她的长发随风轻舞时。以前我从没有见过她。音乐如此美妙，以致我静静地听了起来。

Lost in the music, I did not realize that I had been standing for so long. But my existencedid not seem to disturb her. Leaves were still falling. Every day when I passed by the lawn, Iwould see her playing her guitar. She was the only performer and I was the only audience.During the rest of the days in the season, life became interesting and I could review the coursescarefully. Though we did not know each other, I thought we were always good friends.

沉醉在音乐中，我没有意识到自己竟然站了那么久，但我的存在好像并没有打扰她，叶子仍在随风飘零。每天路过那片草地，我都会看到她在那儿弹吉他。她是惟一的表演者，而我是惟一的听众。于是这个季节接下来的日子里，生活变得趣味盎然，我也能专心复习功课了。尽管我们彼此不相识，我认为我们已经是好朋友了。

Autumn was nearly over. One day, when I was listening devotedly, the sound suddenlystopped. To my astonishment, the girl came over to me.

秋季快过去了。一天，正当我专心致志地陶醉在音乐声中时，音乐声嘎然而止。使我惊愕的是，这个女孩向我走过来了。

“You must like the music,” she said.

“你一定很喜欢音乐吧。”她说。

“Yes, you play very well. Why did you stop?” I asked.

“是的。你弹得真好。怎么停了？”我问。

Suddenly, a sad expression appeared on her face.

突然，她的脸上现出一抹悲伤的表情。

“I came here just to have a rest because I failed in the college entrance examination. I feltvery disappointed. And it was your listening every day that encouraged me,” she said, “and Ihave to go tomorrow.”

“我只是来这里休息一段时间，因为我高考失利了。我感到非常失望，是你每天都来听鼓励了我，”她说，“明天我就要走了。”

“In fact, it was your playing that gave me a meaningful autumn and helped me believe that Ihave the ability to pass the Postgraduate Entrance Examination.” I answered, “I think it wasGod who gave us the chance to know each other and we should be good friends.”

“实际上，是你的音乐让我觉得秋天富有意义，使我相信我有能力通过考研。”我说道，“我认为是上苍给了我们相识的机会，我们应该成为好朋友。”

She smiled and I smiled.

她笑了，我也笑了。

Since then, I have never seen her again. I no longer passed by that lawn. Only thick leaveswere left behind. But I will always remember the season and the girl. It was her appearancethat helped me passed the Postgraduate Entrance Examination, though she only appeared afew days in my life.

从那以后，我再也没有见过她。我不再经过那片草地了。只留下了厚厚的叶子。但我会永远铭记这个季节，还有那个女孩。是她的出现助我通过了研究生入学考试，尽管她出现在我的生命中只有短短的几天。

We may encounter many people in our lives. Some are like a shooting star, but give off somuch light that they guide you in the correct direction; some are like clothes to you, they arealways with you, but do not understand you. Just as a famous saying, many people step inyour life, but only true friends leave footprints.

在我们的生活中，也许会遇到很多人，有些人就像流星一样，却发出足够的光芒指引你走向正确的方向；有些人就像你的衣服，虽然整日跟你在一起，却还是不能理解你。就像一句明言所说，很多人走进你的生命，却只有真正的朋友才能留下脚印。

I shall always recall the autumn, the girl and the sound of her guitar. I know she will alwaysbe my best friend.

我会永远回想起那个季节，那个女孩以及她的吉他声。我知道，她会是我永远的好朋友。
