Do you agree or disagree that the determining factor in the success of students in school is intelligence? Use specific examples and details in your response.

I disagree that intelligence alone determines a student’s success. In my view, effort matters more.
Take my classmate Lisa as an example. She wasn’t the “smartest” in math—at first, she struggled with algebra, often getting low scores. But instead of giving up, she made a plan: every evening, she reviewed class notes, did 10 extra practice problems, and asked the teacher to explain confusing parts. After three months, her grade jumped from a C to an A. Lisa’s story shows that even if a student is not a “genius,” consistent effort can lead to great results.

When giving feedback to students, some teachers prefer in-person talks, while others use written comments. Which do you prefer and why? Use specific examples and details.

I’d rather get in-person feedback because it helps me understand and improve faster.
Last term, I wrote a terrible economics essay. My teacher didn’t just hand back a graded paper—she asked me to stay after class. When she said “your analysis is too shallow,” I could ask right away: “What parts need more depth?” She pointed to a specific paragraph and explained how to add data from the textbook. If it were just written comments, I might have misunderstood what “shallow” meant. Plus, her tone was friendly. That made me feel motivated to revise, not discouraged.

Some think students learn better through group educational games in class; others say it’s a waste of time. Which do you agree with? Explain why.

I think group educational games are a great way to learn because they make class fun and help me remember things better.
For example, in my middle school biology class, our teacher used a “cell structure” game: we split into groups, and each person acted as an organelle. We had to explain our “job” in the cell and how we work with others. At first, I mixed up the roles, but after the game, I never forgot which part does what.
Before that, memorizing organelles from the textbook felt boring and easy to forget. The game turned learning into a team activity.
