托福听力重听题：听懂“言外之意”

从ETS官方对重听题的设置来看：重听题，往往在问speaker某句话的言外之意，这一点也是重听题的难度所在，不仅要听懂那句话，还要理解语境，所以正确选项为accurately describes the speaker’s real meaning, purpose, or position。
常见的提问方式有：
Whydoes the professor mention this…?(功能)
Whatdoes the student/professor imply when she/he says this…?(推断)
Whatdoes the man/woman mean when she/he says this…?(态度)
我们可以得出，重听题考查考生：
1.考生从文章整体去揣测某句话的潜在原因
2.考生应理解某一句话的功能
3.考生需要理解某句话所暗示的内容
4.通过speaker的语气和语境去揣测其真实含义
5.考生需要理解speaker对于某个议题的立场
分析完题目设置，让我们来看一下错误选项的特点：

解析：
(重听内容)It goes without saying，单从字面上理解，很多学生的第一反应是“它一句话都没说就走了。。。”答案惊人，目瞪口呆，但是通过上下文我们可以发现，这里professor的意思是接下来要讲的内容已经很明显了，不需要再解释了。
综上所述，要做对重听题，不仅要听懂句子，也要结合上下文理解
