In my opinion, no matter how intricate they are, the most vital character of a better leader is that he or she must own the courage to take responsibility for mistakes. To start with, for a political leader, owning the ability to take responsibility for mistakes can demonstrate that the government is honest, gaining people’s trust. That is, the strongest bond between two elements is the establishment of trust that is the base of dependence and harmony. Thus, if the leader can admit mistakes, although he or she must be blamed for a while the leader also displays the transparency of the government, proving that the state is fighting for the benefits of the lovely civilians and that the country cannot tolerate any corruption and dissemblance. On the other hand, the capability of taking mistakes promises further improvement. Just as Thomas Edison said that failure is the mother of success, taking the responsibility for mistakes is the father of getting promotion. Only through self-correction can a leader clarify the confusion, minimize the side effect, and finally build a positive cycle, through which the system of legislature and government operation can reach the democracy and rationality. Therefore, only if a person possesses such awareness, he or she can be a candidate for a good leader. Lastly, for a good business leader, the ability to take responsibility for mistakes can free the employees. That is, having known that the leader is responsible, employees are inadvertently encouraged to do more and do something creative. It is true that when employees are free from pressure from making errors, they will bring about the highest efficiency and creativity which is the key factor for the survival in the cruel commercial field. In a word, if we think twice about this topic, it is not hard to reach an objective conclusion for three reasons I mentioned above.
