Some people argue using a cleaner energy to protect the environment, but some people say the traditional energy sources such as coal and oil is less expensive, what is your suggestion?
The resource is a frequent discussing topic for all generations. Generally, we can divide the resource to two parts: traditional resources and new resource. Traditional resources refers to coal and oil. Solar energy and geothermal energy are regarded as new resource. Some people propose to use a cleaner energy to protect the environment, while others think traditional energy is less expansive. From my point of view, we should both use new energy and traditional energy. Firstly, new energy such as solar energy is environmental friendly, but expansive. Because new energy is plenty, renewable and contains low level of carbon, it has less pollution. Solar water heater is widely use today. But also it has limitations that cannot use in the rainy days. What’s more, new energy is more expensive than traditional resources. For poor family, traditional resources is more financial beneficial for them. Secondly, traditional energy is less expensive, but contaminated. Traditional energy is widely used and produced. Coal and oil is probably the most familiar resources for us. Coal and oil is widely used in all kinds of industry. And traditional energy is relatively cheap. But it also has its limitations. The biggest disadvantage is its contamination to the environment. Greenhouse effect, acid rain and photochemical smog are all caused by the overuse of traditional resources. Also the exploitation of traditional resource is dangerous. Every year, there are mine accidents because of the excavation of coal. According to the two previous points, new resources and traditional resources have their advantages and disadvantages relatively. So my opinion is to use the two resources both. For example, in the downtown, to reduce the air pollution, the government should encourage people to use new resources. In some field of industry like heavy industry, coal can still be used. We cannot say we should totally abandon the traditional resources because of its pollution. In some areas, traditional resources is more efficient than new sources. And new resources have a long way to go. Scientists should develop new ways to reduce the cost to meet people’s expectation.
