When living standard has tremendously risen, and material demand remains one simply life pursuit among others, people start to meditate on the importance of politician, who have led us into a prosperous society. And among the many who believe in the great influence of artistic works on social development, I have found my position. To begin with, aesthetic of art works promotes tourism and secures a nation its international status. The former conclusion is easy to reach when we recollect the original purposes of previous travels – to visit France for Eiffel Tower, England for Big Ben, and Egypt for Pyramid. To make it more specific, a famous temple in China counts its annual sacrifice in the form of money, and the total can afford the construction of another five temples in equal scale. No government will thus deny the contribution tourism has made to its social development. Concerning the latter conclusion, Chinese director, Ang Lee, is an excellent example to analyze. As the first Chinese director to receive Best Director in Oscar Award, not only Hollywood movie makers, but the whole movie industry has realized the genius of Chinese movie makers and thus increasing number of Chinese movie makers have appeared on the red carpet of important international movie awards. Moreover, Artistic works influence people in the aspect of mentality, vital factor to satisfactory material life. To make it simply, I will use my own example of art work appreciation. Similar to the majority who have been choked with daily work and study, weekend is the time for relaxation, and I choose to indulge myself in numerous artistic works. When absorbed to the exquisite carving of sculptures, or delicate delineation of paintings, with daily burden withdrawing from my head, I can devote my effort in the coming week again. And this is happening to most citizens. Furthermore, people today are less likely to be convinced of claims made by politicians. “Politician are experienced liars.” This is how a majority of people tend to define a politician. It’s not logical, but it makes sense. Take our city mayor for example. One year ago, when he was elected as the mayor, he made his promise to be a responsible and honest leader. But recently, he has been arrested for corruption. And this is not the sole case and will not be the only case in China. To end up, even though political leaders decide the direction of social development, artistic work, substantially and inconspicuously, influences the society in its own way.
