Restricted codes refer to the circumstances when the people from the same group can understand members with few words uttered. There are two kinds of restricted codes. The first kind is shared among people with the same professional knowledge. Take doctor for example. Doctors can understand each other easily in the description of certain diseases as they have obtained the same source of professional knowledge, but it takes long time for the doctor to explain his patient the exact details of the disease. The second type is shared among people with the same experience. For example, a group of people once went for a picnic and the food was accidentally eaten by a goat. From then on, whenever some member refers to goat or picnic, members in the group will burst out into laughters.
