Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: People who try to acquire more than one skills are more likely to become successful than people who just focus on one skill.

答案

In this competitive society, there is a general trend that people are trying to grasp more techniques in order to become successful. Views differ when it comes to whether it is suitable to do this. In my view, learning various kinds of skills is better, especially in regard to entire life career and personal improvement, and those who try to learn more are more likely to succeed. To begin with, those who try to learn more skills tend to be more ambitious and aggressive. They normally have their ambitions which impel them to do everything they can to achieve goals. Take my cousin for example. His dream is to be a diplomat and he has spent much time developing various capabilities to achieve this goal, including English skills, communication skills and problem-solving ability. With his all-round skills, he is now able to begin his diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I believe he will eventually realize his dream and become an excellent diplomat in the future. Moreover, people who have acquired different skills would be more capable of dealing with various problems. People will meet a variety of problems on their way to success. Equipped with various skills, people are able to cope with different situations. For instance, if a diplomat is proficient in more than one foreign languages, he can communicate smoothly with diplomats from non-English-speaking countries, which will be of great help to clearing the air. Lastly, learning new skills enables people to make acquaintance with new friends, which can expand their social network. With the assistance and support from acquaintances, one is able to overcome all kinds of difficulties, which makes social network important for achieving success. During the process of learning new abilities, one gets the opportunities to know more people and make friends with them. In summary, those who try to learn more techniques are more likely to be successful because they have ambitions, capability and their own social networks.
